Quectel LTE CAT-1 Module First to Earn Telstra Certification, Opens up New Innovation Possibilities for Device Makers and Developers in Australia
Quectel Wireless Solutions, a leading global supplier of GSM/GPRS, UMTS/HSPA(+), LTE and GNSS modules, solutions and services, today announced, its new LTE CAT 1 Module (EC21-AUT) as the first of its kind to receive Telstra certification for in Australia. Quectel’s EC21-AUT module, supported by Telstra’s wide network coverage, will open up new innovative opportunities for our Australian M2M device manufacturers.Targeting the lower speed/lower bandwidth IoT/M2M applications such as – smart meters, telematics, tracking and tracing, smart city and smart home applications, Quectel’s EC21-AUT module, using Qualcomm’s MDM9x07 chipset, delivers enhanced power performance with optimized download speeds of up to 10 Mbps (DL) and uplink speeds of up to 5 Mbps (UL) over the highly efficient 4G LTE networks. Carrying the stamp of Quectel’s superior design criteria for reliability, efficiency and cost competitiveness, makes the EC21-AUT the designer’s choice for LTE IoT / M2M applications.
“Following a comprehensive certification procedure, we are proud to say our EC21 LTE module is ready for use over Telstra’s 3G/4G network, the largest in Australia. Our high quality product standards and excellent technical support provided by our engineers were fundamental attributes in achieving this approval,” said Johnny Xiang, Director of Testing Department at Quectel.
“Global mobile network operators are continuously advancing their networks towards 4G technologies and beyond. M2M user equipment designers demand versatile, high quality modules reliably operating across varied wireless technologies and assuring the longevity required by M2M applications”, said Quectel’s CEO, Patrick Qian. Patrick also pointed out that by 2020, the installed base of IoT capable devices will exceed 26 billion units worldwide. Quectel, a major contributor to this technological landscape, will continue to develop state of the art solutions, like our CAT-1 LTE module, to enable IoT device manufacturers design even more intelligent products and optimized device lifecycles. Our EC21 LTE module is now ready and approved for operation over Telstra’s 3G and 4G networks, offering our customers a competitive advantage in the development of LTE IoT/M2M products for deployment in Australia.”
